Cardiff City are keen to bring Liverpool defender Nat Phillips back to the club this summer, as per the Daily Mail.
Cardiff City are preparing for another season in the Championship following a mid-table finish last season.
The Bluebirds finished slap bang in the middle of the second tier last time around in what was Erol Bulut’s first season at the helm of the club.

Cardiff City improved massively from the year before and it will be hoped they continue to improve heading into next season.
Phillips, 27, spent part of last season on loan at Cardiff City. He played 18 league games for the Welsh club, scoring once from centre back.
Cardiff City are keen to bring Phillips back to the club this summer, but they face competition from the likes of Ipswich Town who can offer Premier League football.
The latest update goes onto say Liverpool want around £8m for Phillips this summer and that may spell the end of Cardiff City’s chances of a reunion.
On the way out
The 27-year-old has been on many loan moves away from the club in recent years and with just one year left on his Anfield contract, it seems a permanent move away this summer makes sense for both parties.
The experienced defender is more than capable of delivering in the Championship, but it remains to be seen whether he would rather fight for his place in the top flight than be a regular start guaranteed in the second tier.
Cardiff City could offer him that sort of game time, but unless Liverpool are willing to budge on the fee then it’s hard to see him moving back to Wales this summer.
Looking ahead
Bulut did well in his first season in English management.
Cardiff City only narrowly avoided relegation in the 2022/23 season, so a mid-table finish provided some much-needed stability and improvement.

If backed the right way this summer then there is no reason the Bluebirds can’t go on and have another campaign similar to last.
The summer window is still in its early days and there is a long way to go in it, but the season is edging closer and closer and if Cardiff City can get a couple of deals over the line before the Championship campaign kicks off then they could get off to a very strong start this year.
