Blackburn Rovers are keen on a move for Birmingham City midfielder Paik Seung-ho, according to reporter Alan Nixon on his Patreon page.
Blackburn Rovers could throw a Championship lifeline to the South Korea international this summer following Birmingham City’s relegation to League One. The player’s future in the Midlands is now up in the air following the opening of the new transfer window.
Seung-ho, 27, made the switch to England in January and couldn’t prevent the Blues from slipping into the third tier along with Rotherham United and Huddersfield Town. He made 18 appearances in all competitions during the second-half of last season, 17 of which came in the league.
In this latest update regarding the player’s future with his current club, journalist Nixon has claimed on his Patreon page that Rovers are interested in a swoop. John Eustace’s side are preparing for another year in the second tier and need some signings.
Blackburn Rovers eye midfielder
Blackburn Rovers could see Seung-ho as someone to add more competition and depth to their midfield department.
He has also been linked with Sunderland recently, as per a report by Football Insider.
Seung-ho was on the books at Barcelona as a youngster before going on to have permanent spells at Peralada and Girona.
The Seoul-born man moved to Germany in 2019 and spent two years at Darmstadt, both of which were in the Bundesliga.2.
Seung-ho then switched to Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors in the K-League and made 106 appearances in all competitions, chipping in with 11 goals.
What next for Blackburn Rovers?
Eustace will want to put his own stamp on his squad as he prepares for his first full season at the helm.
The Lancashire club were too close to the drop zone for comfort last term and will be looking to compete at the top end of the table.
They need to get their recruitment right and Seung-ho is someone who would be a shrewd addition if they were able to get him.
He may feel he has a point to prove in this country after Birmingham City’s disappointing relegation.
