A midfielder who Sheffield Wednesday and Danny Rohl wanted to sign in January is now expected to leave his current club, with Birmingham City keen.
Sheffield Wednesday look set to add to their nine summer signings in the very near future, with several reports of potential further additions.
One player wanted back in S6 this summer is Ike Ugbo; it’s reported that Sheffield Wednesday have tabled an opening bid for the striker this summer.
Another name recently linked is free agent centre-back Mickael Nade, though the Owls look set to miss out on a deal for the Frenchman.
Elsewhere, Danny Rohl says that Sheffield Wednesday are in the market for a new midfielder and also a centre-back.
That update proceeds a recent social media post from Di’Shon Bernard which strongly hints at him not re-signing with Sheffield Wednesday this summer.
Meanwhile, Sheffield Wednesday January target Andy Rinomhota is tipped to leave, and tipped to have plenty of transfer interest
Sheffield Wednesday January target Andy Rinomhota tipped to leave Cardiff City
Rinomhota, 27, currently plays for Cardiff City, but spent the second half of the 2023/24 season on loan with Rotherham United.
He featured 16 times in the Championship for the Millers who beat the likes of Sheffield Wednesday and Huddersfield Town to the signing.
A holding midfielder, it’s now said that Rinomhota is ‘the subject of interest from a number of clubs’, and that the Zimbabwean is expected to leave Cardiff City this summer, ahead of his 2025 contract expiry.
Journalist Darren Witcoop revealed the news on X, adding that Birmingham City are among the clubs interested

Are Sheffield Wednesday still interested in Andy Rinomhota
Sheffield Wednesday enjoyed a good January transfer window, signing the likes if Ugbo, Ian Poveda, and James Beadle.
And the Owls have since had a strong summer transfer window, showcasing their newfound strength in the transfer market under Rohl and head of recruitment Kevin Beadell.
So given their success in January, in targeting players who went on to succeed, it may suggest to Rohl that Rinomhota is another player who could prevail at Hillsborough.
With Rohl eyeing another midfielder signing as well, following the earlier exit of Will Vaulks, Rinomhota could be a shrewd capture for the midfield department at Sheffield Wednesday.
With other teams interested and the likes of Birmingham City perhaps able to guarantee more game time, it could be a potentially difficult pursuit for the Owls.
That is, of course, if they remain interested in Rinomhota, which certainly seems like a strong possibility.
