PITTSBURGH (AP) — The Boston Red Sox’s designated hitter, Masataka Yoshida, left Saturday’s game against the Pittsburgh Pirates due to left hamstring discomfort.
In the third inning, Yoshida, 33, blasted a double down the right-field line, but he had a noticeable limp as he approached second base. He was replaced by Anthony Seigler after calling the dugout.
Entering Saturday’s game, Yoshida was hitting .272 with five home runs and 28 RBIs. After coming from Japan in 2023, he has spent the last four years playing for the Red Sox.
