The Ottawa Senators have opened the season in impressive fashion, but an off-ice social-media development involving Brady Tkachuk has added another storyline to follow.
Ottawa improved to 2-0-0 after defeating the Boston Bruins 4-1 on the road. Through two games, the Senators have scored seven goals while allowing only three, giving them a plus-four goal differential.
Tim Stützle was one of the biggest contributors against Boston, finishing the game with two goals and an assist. His performance helped reinforce the idea that Ottawa has several players capable of driving the team offensively.
Against that backdrop, attention has also turned to Tkachuk’s social-media activity. The Senators captain reportedly unfollowed Ottawa’s official Instagram account, a move that has naturally sparked discussion among fans.
An unfollow by itself does not necessarily indicate a major problem. Players can change the accounts they follow for countless reasons, and social-media activity shouldn’t automatically be interpreted as a statement about their relationship with the organization.
Still, the timing has made the situation more noticeable. The move came while Ottawa was enjoying one of its strongest possible starts, making the contrast particularly interesting.
The Senators have looked organized and confident early in the campaign, while their 4-1 victory over Boston provided another encouraging performance.
Linus Ullmark also played a role in the victory, stopping 10 shots over 40 minutes. Although Boston did not generate an overwhelming workload, Ottawa maintained control for much of the game.
For now, the team’s results are providing plenty of positive momentum. Whether Tkachuk’s social-media move develops into anything more significant remains uncertain, but it is a storyline that will likely continue to attract attention as Ottawa’s season progresses.
