Two weeks ago, Duke suffered a blowout loss to NC State on the road. However, on Monday night, Mike Krzyzewski’s team made a statement by defeating the Wolfpack decisively at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
Duke saw strong performances from Cassius Stanley, Tre Jones, and Vernon Carey, who combined for 50 points and 16 rebounds against NC State. Jordan Goldwire and Wendell Moore also contributed solidly.
After the final buzzer, Krzyzewski celebrated with his players, high-fiving the first row of the Cameron Crazies. It was one of the most animated moments we’ve seen from him all season.
After back-to-back losses, the Blue Devils desperately needed this win. Following the victory, Coach K had a message for his critics.
Here’s what Coach K shared after the game, via 247Sports:
“You can question my coaching and what the hell — and then when you do question it, but the way, just come into Cameron and look up in the ceiling, and then find out if you should question that,” Krzyzewski said on Duke’s postgame radio show. “But don’t do anything with our players. Just support ‘em.”
It’s tough to dispute Coach K’s comments. As a five-time national champion, he consistently has Duke competing at a high level in March.
Next up for Duke is a matchup with North Carolina. A win over their biggest rival would be a strong way to wrap up the regular season.
