A former World Series champion is taking his talents to San Diego, according to a report Friday.
Yuli Gurriel, 40, has agreed to a Minor League contract with the Padres, a source told MLB.com.
The contract is reportedly worth $1.25 million if he reaches the Majors and an additional $1 million in possible incentives.

The Cuban native spent seven years with the Houston Astros, where he won two World Series rings in 2017 and 2022.
Other accomplishments for Gurriel include winning the American League batting title and Gold Glove Award in 2021, as well as appearing in 85 postseason games with the Astros, hitting eight homers with a .711 on-base plus slugging percentage.
Last season, Gurriel signed a Minor League deal with the Braves. He was then traded to the Kansas City Royals, playing in 18 games and starting all six postseason games for them.
The Padres have not confirmed the deal at this time.
