The Edmonton Oilers must finish some work by Friday’s Trade Deadline. Under normal circumstances, it can be challenging to complete deals. Unfortunately, the Oilers have a few situations that make things more complicated.
Evander Kane has submitted a 16-team list of teams he would accept a trade to. The Oilers are doing their due diligence to see if any of those teams can make a deal happen.
Additionally, some new information that clouds things even further for the Oilers has come to light.

The newest 32 Thoughts podcast dropped early Monday morning. Elliotte Friedman revealed some contract details that were not public knowledge until now.

Considering the Oilers’ cap situation, this is less than ideal. The Oilers need to move dollars out to make a deal happen, even if a third party is involved in retaining salary.
At least with Kane, the team has some wiggle room and could get a deal done that takes money off their hands. Otherwise, this Trade Deadline could end up being quieter than anyone would like.
