It’s an open secret that Port Vale will be looking to add to their striker ranks over the summer and names continue to be linked to the club. Here’s a round-up of the latest…
Following the end of the disastrous David Flitcroft era (where the former Director of Football failed miserably to add any proven strikers over several transfer windows) and the departure of both James Wilson and Uche Ikpeazu, Port Vale are clearly on the look-out for new strikers. There are no substantiated claims to the most recent links but here they are nevertheless…
Valiants linked to striker rated by Darren Moore
The Football League World website have suggested that released Arsenal striker Tyreece John-Jules could be a target. The link comes about because Vale manager Darren Moore has praised the player after he played for the Vale boss at both Doncaster Rovers and Sheffield Wednesday. Moore clearly rates the 23 year-old having said he was “tremendous. Good off both feet, he sees the game and he moves well. He carries a goal threat and can play in a number of different positions.” However, John-Jules has been hit by injuries throughout his career – and with Vale criticised for signing injury-prone players last season – would that put the Valiants off signing the youngster?
Is Irish striker Ruari Paton a Vale target?
Social media posts suggest that the Valiants could be interested in 23 year-old Irish striker Ruari Paton and some reports even suggest Vale have tabled a bid for a forward who netted 26 times in the Scottish Championship last season.
Rumours continue to link Vale with York City star
Prolific York City striker Dipo Akinyemi continues to be linked with a move to the Potteries. The 26 year-old would cost a hefty fee (reports suggest that York paid £300,000 for him at the start of last season) but he’s another forward who looks to know where the goal is having scored fifteen times last season.
We would reiterate that none of these “moves” are anything more than rumour and speculation. They should be taken with a pinch of salt and not taken as confirmed transfers.
