The Kentucky Wildcats fell short in the Sweet 16 against a well-known rival Friday in Indianapolis, as the Tennessee Volunteers took command early and never looked back en route to a 78-65 triumph.
The Wildcats’ season has now come to an end, which means seniors Lamont Butler and Andrew Carr’s careers in Lexington have come to a finish.
With the transfer portal in full swing, Carr had a message for all the players entering the portal about Mark Pope’s program.
“If you’re in the transfer portal and looking for a spot to go, go to Kentucky,” Carr said during postgame interviews.
Sitting next to him, Lamont Butler had this to say:
“The bar is gonna be set high for the next people who come play under Pope; it’s gonna be fun to watch.

In Year 1 under Pope, the Wildcats had great success throughout the season.
Butler played his last game in a Wildcats uniform tonight, and he made the most of it. He finished the game with 18 points on 70% from the field, six rebounds, and three assists in 33 minutes played. The senior from California had a great season in Lexington, as did Carr.
