The Los Angeles Chargers have had a very busy offseason thus far and that continued on Friday.
Of course, Los Angeles is desperately trying to do what they can to upgrade their roster to compete with the other top teams in the AFC, including the Kansas City Chiefs in their own division.
They have already made some interesting moves on the offensive side of the ball as they have signed players like Najee Harris, Tyler Conklin and Mike Williams to give quarterback Justin Herbert more weapons.
While the Chargers have made some popular moves on the offensive side this offseason, they decided to make a daring $6 million move on Friday.
On Friday, the Chargers signed Trey Lance to a one-year contract worth up to $6.2 million according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.

This comes as a very surprising move for Los Angeles as they already have Herbert as their starter and Taylor Heinicke as the backup, leaving Lance to fall to third on their quarterback depth chart.
Of course, Lance was the former third overall pick by the San Francisco 49ers in the 2021 NFL Draft but has leaned toward being a bust after San Francisco replaced him with Brock Purdy in 2023 when they traded Lance to the Dallas Cowboys.
Lance then spent last season as the third-string quarterback for the Cowboys where he sat behind both Dak Prescott and Cooper Rush, making one start in which he threw for 266 yards and an interception.
The 24-year-old will now get another opportunity in the NFL with the Chargers as he tries to live up to the hype that surrounded him heading into the 2021 draft.
Despite this, Lance will struggle to find playing time in Los Angeles with him likely heading towards being listed third on the depth chart, which will make him more of an observer next season unless Herbert or Heinicke suffer an injury.
