Brisbane’s loss to the Gold Coast has been compounded by major injury blows after Payne Haas and Ezra Mam left the field in the first half and failed to return.
Haas only lasted 10 minutes after he hurt his foot in the warm up, with reports suggesting he’d suffered a Lisfranc injury.
“That’s enormous for the Brisbane Broncos,” league great Corey Parker said on Fox League.
Post-game, Walters wasn’t willing to 100 per cent confirm it was a Lisfranc injury.
“I’m not sure. I’ve heard that but I can’t confirm,” he said in his press conference.
Right before half time, more problems then came for the Broncos with Mam hurting his ankle.
The five-eighth had to be helped from the field after he was caught awkwardly under a Titans player.
“This is shaping as a disaster for Brisbane,” commentator Dan Ginnane said.
Mam was captured gingerly running in the sheds at half time but didn’t return.
“He just wasn’t right to go back out yet,” Walters said.
“I’m not going to use that in any way. We had bodies on the field that are playing in the NRL, they need to do their job.”
Brisbane’s 46-18 loss to the Titans puts them down to 14th on the ladder and out of contention for the top eight.
Remarkably, the Broncos led 18-10 at half time before the Titans scored seven unanswered tries after the break to put themselves into 11th.
