The Pittsburgh Steelers are desperate to end the cycle of mediocrity they’ve been stuck in season to season and finally end their drought of playoff wins before it reaches 10 years.
However, the Steelers still have some massive questions regarding their roster. The biggest concern is the quarterback position. One of their quarterbacks from last season, Justin Fields, has already found a new home and is electing to sign with the New York Jets.
The Steelers have been linked to Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson, but on Thursday, they shocked the NFL world by signing a different quarterback entirely, according to one prominent league insider.
“A Steel City reunion: QB Mason Rudolph has agreed to a two-year, $8 million deal with $4.5 million to return to the #Steelers, sources tell me and (Ian Rapoport). Rudolph mulled multiple offers, including a return to the #Titans, but was motivated to head back to Pittsburgh,” reported NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“Drop the pursuit of Aaron Rodgers, use the money to make the team stronger, start Mason, and do what ever is necessary to get Archie Manning in 2026,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Pittsburgh’s QB woes might just continue with this reunion,” one fan added.
“Quarterback situation in Pittsburgh, SOLVED!” someone else said sarcastically.
It’ll be interesting to see if the Steelers add another quarterback in free agency.
