Rees-Zammit signed to Jacksonville Jaguars active roster
Rees-Zammit has been listed as a wide receiver after having initially joined the Jaguars in 2024, but was not promoted to the active roster this year.
The 24-year-old joined the NFL’s International Player Pathway (IPP) in 2024, having quit rugby ahead of last year’s Six Nations. The IPP scheme helps elite athletes transition to the NFL, offering them a platform to win a contract.

Rees-Zammit’s first club was the Kansas City Chiefs, who were beaten in Super Bowl LIX, where he was signed as a running back on a three-year deal in March 2024.
After being waived by the Chiefs, he joined the Jags’ practice squad and his latest contract means he will stay at Jacksonville in the offseason as part of the 90-player roster.
Jacksonville also promoted quarterback John Wolford from its practice squad, with the 29-year-old counting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Los Angeles Rams among his former clubs.
But Rees-Zammit’s contract with the Jaguars comes just weeks after former Wales rugby head coach Warren Gatland had spoken about his potential re-integration into the sport.
“My understanding is he has an approach in terms of being retained by Jacksonville. I don’t know about that. Whenever he wants to come back, he’d be more than welcome back in the fold,” the now-departed coach said last month.
