Less than a week after Penn State’s College Football Playoff hopes ended, quarterback Drew Allar confirmed his decision to return for a fourth season with the Nittany Lions, according to multiple reports.
Allar, who threw for just 135 yards and an interception in Penn State’s semifinal loss to Notre Dame on Friday, had already informed the coaching staff in December of his intention to return, as reported by ESPN. However, a subsequent report mentioned that Allar remained on NFL scouts’ radar, as he still had the option to reconsider his decision.
Had Allar chosen to enter the 2025 NFL Draft, he would have likely been one of the top quarterbacks available, following names like Shedeur Sanders, Cam Ward, and Jalen Milroe. Instead, he will be part of a 2026 class that could also feature Arch Manning and Carson Beck.
Allar came to Penn State as the No. 1 quarterback prospect and No. 3 overall recruit in the Class of 2022. After spending his freshman year as Sean Clifford’s backup, he became the starter last season, throwing for 25 touchdowns and just two interceptions.
