The Missouri Tigers made a significant investment in NIL to secure their new quarterback from the transfer portal, and the amount has now been disclosed. According to Pete Nakos of On3Sports, Missouri offered former Penn State quarterback Beau Pribula a NIL deal worth $1.5 million to bring him to the Tigers.
Quarterbacks’ NIL values continue to soar, with the latest example being former Tulane quarterback Darian Mensah, who reportedly secured a $4 million per year deal with Duke. In contrast, Pribula received $1.5 million, despite having thrown fewer than 100 passes in his first two seasons at Penn State and not being a highly ranked high school prospect.
Under coach Eli Drinkwitz, Missouri has been active in both the transfer portal and recruiting, aiming to establish themselves as a competitive SEC program. They have finished in the top 25 in two of the past three seasons and appear poised to do so again. Their strong NIL budget has played a key role in this effort, particularly as major changes loom for the team.
However, one area Missouri has struggled with is planning for the quarterback position after Brady Cook, which has become a point of concern. Cook, a former standout, faced challenges in 2024 due to inconsistency and health issues, making it difficult for the team to perform.
Pribula, who has two years of eligibility remaining, is expected to compete for the starting quarterback role, especially given the significant resources Missouri has invested in him. He was a three-star recruit in high school, ranked as the 27th best quarterback in the 2022 class, and has shown some promise in limited action, completing 66.1% of his passes for 275 yards, one interception, and adding 571 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns in situational play.
Missouri also signed four-star recruit Matt Zollers for the upcoming class, who could either challenge Pribula for the starting job or serve as a backup and future option at quarterback.
