If there is one area that Virginia Tech football coach Brent Pry and his staff continue to excel, it’s in recruiting. The last two classes for the Hokies have been good classes and now it is time to turn their attention to the Class of 2026.
Virginia Tech got a commitment from Nazareth, Pa. quarterback Peyton Falzone last June, but the four-star signal caller de-committed from the Hokies right before Thanksgiving. That is potentially a big loss, but Thursday afternoon, Pry picked up a commit in next season’s class a day before the Duke’s Mayo Bowl in Charlotte against Minnesota.
Virginia Tech picks up commitment from four-star Class of 026 WR
Monday during the Under Armour Next All-American Game that was televised on ESPN2, four-star wide receiver Carnell Warren from Bluffton, South Carolina committed to Virginia Tech. This season as a junior, he had 59 catches for 846 yards and 14 touchdowns. He explained his decision to come to Virginia Tech over three mother ACC schools, Duke, Wake Forest, and Georgia Tech.
“Virginia Tech is a really good school and ever since I got there for the first time over the summer, I knew it was going to be a place that I wanted to be playing on Saturdays,” said Warren. “Everything about Virginia Tech— their coaching staff is really what I wanted. Coach Brent Pry came to me and told me what I had to do to play at Virginia Tech, along with every assistant coach there and they just keep it real with me and that’s something that I need. ”
This is a big recruiting win for Pry and the Hokies as they beat out Manny Diaz and Duke, Brent Key and Georgia Tech and Wake Forest, who just underwent a coaching change for Warren. This is a good start in putting together the Class of 2026 in Blacksburg.
