The Los Angeles Dodgers have already started reloading the roster to defend their 2024 World Series title by signing starting pitcher Blake Snell to a five-year, $182 million deal.
Could one of their next moves include trading for Houston Astros outfielder Kyle Tucker? The 27-year-old slugger has quietly been a force at the plate for the Astros since his first full big-league campaign in 2021. He’s slashed .280/.362/.527 while averaging 28 home runs, 29 doubles, 90 RBI and 77 runs scored per year during that time.
His accolades include three All-Star Game selections, a Silver Slugger Award, a Gold Glove Award and three top-20 finishes in American League MVP Award voting. Could the Dodgers eventually find themselves in the mix for Tucker? It hasn’t been publicly reported that they’re seriously engaged with the Astros in trade negotiations. However, Bleacher Report’s Zachary D. Rymer thinks there’s potential for Los Angeles to emerge as a “mystery team” for the outfielder.
He created the following hypothetical deal that’d send Tucker to Hollywood: – Dodgers receive: outfielder Kyle Tucker – Astros receive: third baseman Max Muncy and right-handed pitcher Bobby Miller Muncy could take on a couple of different roles for Houston.
If Alex Bregman doesn’t re-sign with the club, he can take over at third base. Muncy could also become the Astros’ primary first baseman if Bregman returns or another acquisition is made for the hot corner.
If Teoscar Hernández doesn’t return to LA, president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman might become more interested in acquiring Tucker. He’s estimated to earn $16.7 million in 2025, which will be his final season before reaching free agency next winter.
