Bolton Wanderers are back in League One action on Friday night with an away trip to face Wycombe Wanderers.
Bolton Wanderers are currently sat in 8th place in the table as they look to gain promotion to the Championship. They are only a point outside the play-offs.
Ian Evatt’s men lost 2-0 at home to rivals Wigan Athletic last time out with Dale Taylor and Thelo Aasgaard on the scoresheet for their opponents.
The Trotters lost in the play-off final last season to Oxford United at Wembley. They are aiming to bounce back from that defeat in this campaign.
As for Wycombe Wanderers, they have been very impressive over recent times. Matt Bloomfield’s side are top of the league above the likes of Birmingham City, Wrexham, Huddersfield Town and Stockport County.
The Chairboys have lost only twice this term and are proving to be a tough team to play against. They won 4-1 away at struggling Shrewsbury Town in their last outing.
Here, a handful of our writers make their predictions for the game…
Harry Mail
“Bolton Wanderers boss Evatt is under pressure to start getting some more wins. Their loss to Wigan Athletic was a worrying one and showed they can be weak in defence.
“Wycombe Wanderers have been the standout team so far this season in League One and are on a roll under Bloomfield.
“The Chairboys are unbeaten in their last 17 league outings and their last defeat came back in August against Birmingham City.
“I can see them carrying on their run of form against the Trotters but it could be a close one.”
Prediction: Wycombe Wanderers 2-1 Bolton Wanderers
“Wycombe Wanderers are showing no signs of slowing down and coming into the clash with Bolton Wanderers, I’m confident they’ll win again.
“Spirits have been dampened in the north west once again after a seriously disappointing loss to Wigan Athletic. Ian Evatt has been the subject of increasing criticism from supporters but the club are sticking by him.
“Unfortunately, I just can’t see them returning to winning ways here. Wycombe are in brilliant form and I back them to continue it here.”
