Ohio State defensive lineman Hero Kanu officially entered the NCAA Transfer Portal on Friday evening, as reported by Pete Nakos of On3. He recently completed his junior season with the Buckeyes, recording four tackles over 123 defensive snaps.
Kanu redshirted as a true freshman in 2022 but participated in three games. In 2023, he made 10 tackles and one sack in 11 games. He played high school football at Santa Margarita Catholic in Rancho Santa Margarita, California, where he was recognized as a four-star prospect and ranked as the 121st overall player in the nation according to the On3 Industry Rankings for the 2022 recruiting cycle.
As a high school senior, Kanu achieved 55 tackles, nine sacks, and 19 tackles for loss. During his first season at Santa Margarita Catholic, he accumulated 28 tackles, 9 tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks. Originally from Germany, Kanu was a skilled club soccer player before moving to California in October 2020, where he began playing organized football for the first time in the spring of 2021.
