Ohio State has already started the process of improving its offensive line depth for the future, but that took another hit on Saturday night.
George Fitzpatrick became the third offensive lineman to enter the transfer portal, doing so just days after the Buckeyes’ win over Oregon in the Rose Bowl. He joins Zen Michalski (Indiana) and Miles Walker (Boise State), who’ve already found new homes.
All three losses have been veteran tackles who more than likely didn’t see a path to the field in Columbus. That point became more of an emphasis with OSU adding Rice’s Ethan Onianwa and Minnesota’s Phillip Daniels as the projected starters for the 2025 season.
Fitzpatrick arrived as the No. 244 player and No. 19 offensive tackle in the 2022 class from Colorado. He played just 99 snaps over the past three seasons, allowing one pressure.
His departure along with Michalski and Walker opens up the possibility that Ohio State might not be done adding tackles in the portal this offseason, given the 2025 roster only has five heading into the spring.
