The Green Bay Packers offseason means it’s engagement season, most notably for the tight ends.
Last year around this time, it was Luke Musgrave who got engaged while on vacation in Hawaii. This year, it’s Ben Sims’ turn.
Sims, who recently wrapped up his second season with the Packers, popped the question Saturday in Fredericksburg, Texas, to his longtime girlfriend, Maddie Algya.
“Forever and ever!!!💍🤍 I love you! 2.22.2025” Algya wrote in a joint announcement on Instagram with photos of the magical proposal.
The two shared bubbly and walked the grounds of Barons Creek Vineyards as a newly engaged couple. They were glowing.
Sims and Algya have been together for over five years after meeting at Baylor. Sims was a tight end for the Bears from 2018 to 2022 and set the program record for touchdowns by a tight end. Algya played for the Bears women’s soccer team from 2018 to 2022.
A Baylor graduate, Algya is now a student at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston School of Dentistry. Sims, who went undrafted, signed with the Packers after training camp in 2023.
As the Packers’ third-string tight end, Sims has eight receptions for 63 yards and one touchdown in his two-year NFL career.
