Alcántara has a 34-43 record from 2018 to 2022, with a 3.09 ERA, 1.135 WHIP, 8.0 strikeouts per nine innings, and 16.9 WAR. He led MLB in three complete games that season, but his performance declined in 2024, going 7-12 with a 4.14 ERA, 1.213 WHIP, 7.4 strikeouts per nine innings, and a 3.4 WAR. After joining Miami’s rotation in September 2018, Alcántara was healthy through his elbow surgery five years later, with the exception of a one-month absence during the COVID-shortened 2020 season. His 12 complete games were twice as many as any other MLB pitcher over that time, and he led the National League in innings pitched from 2019 to 2023 with 858.1.
