Team News: Bolton Wanderers injury news – Two key players continuing positive progress

Carlos Mendes Gomes is being phased back into training as he continues to make “fast” progress in his recovery from injury.

The versatile attacker has been out of action since February after suffering a ruptured Achilles tendon at Wigan.

Klaidi Lolos is also heading in the right direction. The summer signing picked up an ankle injury during his debut against Leyton Orient but managed to avoid surgery.

Randell Williams has trained all week with no setbacks, while Gethin Jones and Will Forrester are also making positive progress. However, Jordi Osei-Tutu remains sidelined with the knee injury he picked up against Barrow.

“Klaidi is not too far away, maybe the end of next week. Randell is back fully fit, available and had a good week’s training.

“Gethin is improving all the time. Will is back in the building. The wire is out of his toe, he is back running again on the AlterG (treadmill) which can take a percentage of your body weight off to get him back moving correctly.

“Things are looking positive and I just feel like, this week, it has been a good week in terms of training.

“We have kind of found ourselves a little bit again and for what reason that might be, I don’t know, other than the adversity we have all suffered and conversations we have had.

“Going back to what we know, it has kind of rejuvenated everybody so hopefully we can take that into Saturday.”

Evatt is aware of Reading’s threats but hopes his side can make their moments count in the final third this weekend.

“They are a talented team, they have got some very talented individuals,” he added.

“Obviously, Ruben (Selles) is a coach who wants to play aggressive, front foot, fast, attacking football and they have got the individuals to be able to do that, so we need to cope with that.

“On the flip side, we need to hurt them. I think, before it starts, the game will look very similar to what it looked like at the end of April.

“Obviously, we are a team woefully out of form at the moment and they are a team in form, so it has almost flipped a little bit.

“But I think the game itself will be like it was, they will have some good attacking moments and we will have the opportunities to hurt them going the other way. We need to put it all together to make sure that happens.”
