The Blue Jays are desperate to make some big signings this off-season but bringing in Bregman on a deal worth $200 million when he has been on the decline over the last couple years seems like a massive risk.

Bregman has made it clear he wants a contract that is close to $200 million and while that might not be too bad for the 2025 and 2026 season, it is the last few years of his contract where the Blue Jays will be stuck massively overpaying.
But it’ll also limit Toronto’s spending moving forward, and their financial flexibility. Bregman alone doesn’t make the Blue Jays a contender, it merely makes them more interesting – and that’s the entire problem with Atkins strategy. -Powell
This situation seems incredibly similar to the one that they are currently in with outfielder George Springer but that does not seem to be setting off any alarms for Atkins.
