The 2025 NFL draft is not a particularly talent-laden class, with only a few prospects that are really near the upper echelon of talent. The value lies in the depth of the class, aside from a select few players who are elite or elite-adjacent at their respective positions. One such player is Boise State star running back Ashton Jeanty, who had one of the best seasons in recent collegiate football history.
The New Orleans Saints have been a team with fan and media links to Jeanty, but no official connections, at least until now. Ryan Fowler of The Draft Network recently shared the list of teams who have a formal visit with the Heisman Trophy runner-up during combine week, and among them are the Saints.
The logic behind a Jeanty to the Saints selection is having a dual-headed running back attack and giving Kellen Moore another offensive weapon to work with so he can flesh things out how he wants to.
Production is absolutely no concern for Jeanty, who in 2024 had 374 rush attempts for 2,601 yards (7.0 yards per attempt) and 29 rushing touchdowns, as well as 23 receptions for 138 yards (6.0 yards per reception) and a receiving touchdown. His play at the collegiate level has been absolutely outstanding, and he will no doubt be a top-15 pick in the 2025 NFL draft. If he makes it to the Saints at pick No. 9, he should at least be in consideration as the selection.
