Ty Majeski has celebrated success away from the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series after bagging an impressive $34,000 prize at the Freedom Factory event over the weekend.
Just weeks after his triumph in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series championship, the ThorSport Racing driver transitioned seamlessly back to his roots in super late model racing.
He clinched the prestigious Bill Bigley Memorial 128, not only securing the grand prize of $30,000 but also setting the fastest qualifying time to earn an additional $4,000 for the pole position.
The 9th Annual Noland’s Roofing Bill Bigley, Sr. Memorial event, held at the esteemed Freedom Factory, honors the legacy of Bill Bigley, Sr., a revered figure in short-track racing. For Majeski this race was an opportunity to demonstrate his expertise in a familiar domain.
Whilst speaking to the media after the race, Majeski commented, as reported by Racing America:
“What a great car.
“This goes back to preparation back at the shop. When we unloaded this weekend, we knew we’d be tough. We didn’t practice much, which is really unlike us.
“We knew we had a good piece. Just trying to execute once we got in the race. Just tried to manage my gap to Casey [Johnson] there, try to gap him a little bit and then just manage it for a late-race caution.”
He added:
“The Midwest is a hotbed for racing. We’ve got a lot of great racers up there, a lot of great racing, great fans. It really is a great place to race and a great place to learn. We’ve got a lot of great racers that come down here and it shows. I think we swept the podium tonight and top five in qualifying. It’s a really special night for the Midwest, and hopefully we can keep bringing more guys down.”
Ty Majeski’s current season has been incredibly successful with a championship win in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and his super late model racing success.
