A new video of Connor Bedard’s injury has just surfaced
After an alleged left-shoulder injury caused Connor Bedard to leave practice, Jeff Blashill had a terrible summer scare.
Right now, that’s the narrative in Chicago, and it’s a sobering one. Bedard reportedly left the ice shielding his left side after falling awkwardly during a Vancouver skate.
The graphics are what truly make it stand out. The report on the video mentions that Bedard skated off the ice in discomfort, and that his manner of leaving the ice brought to mind the December shoulder incident.

On the other side was that December performance. Although the current scare is described as a left-shoulder problem, Bedard injured his right shoulder toward the end of a game versus St. Louis.
This is about more than just one embarrassing tumble. Less than a year later, it’s about the Blackhawks witnessing their cornerstone player experience another shoulder setback.
And we still don’t have a clear response regarding how bad it is. This is currently a watch-and-wait tale, which is not what Chicago wanted near Bedard in July.
Fans are worried about a video showing Connor Bedard being hurt.

Bedard isn’t the sole standout youthful member of the team. He is the offense’s entire engine. According to NHL.com, he leads the Blackhawks in scoring in 2025-26 with 30 goals and 75 points in 69 games.
He also averaged 20:52 a night, which demonstrates how much Chicago relies on him shift after shift. There is no simple replacement for those minutes or puck touches.
This is why Blashill’s position here is so important. Marqueur is identified as Chicago’s head coach in his current coaching file, and a coach who is attempting to move this club ahead cannot afford summer ambiguity around his centerpiece.
Without feeling it everywhere, the Blackhawks were not deep enough last season to handle a prolonged Bedard absence. That is evident from Chicago’s team data, as no one else on the squad hit 75 points.
That’s also why the video angle took off so quickly. To understand the body language, followers did not need an official diagnosis. When Bedard exits the ice clutching a shoulder, the people of Chicago will immediately respond.
There is still a chance for this to calm down. There’s still some hope this turns out to be a scare rather than a setback since an uncomfortable tumble doesn’t necessarily result in missing time and the Blackhawks haven’t commented further.
But that’s not the mood right now. Connor Bedard’s departure from practice froze the room, shocked the fan base, and brought back memories of how thin the line between progress and panic in Chicago still is.
