With a 7-7-3 record, the Detroit Red Wings are now in last place in the Atlantic Division.
Additionally, they have dropped each of their last two games. Detroit needs to get hot again with this if they want to catch up to their Atlantic division rivals.
Now, one of the former players for the Red Wings has secured a PTO with another team as they continue to struggle.
Ex-Detroit Red Wings Player Gets PTO With Another Club
Ex-Red Wings forward Robby Fabbri is now one step closer to securing a deal for the season after entering the free agency market more than four months ago.
Fabbri has signed a professional tryout (PTO) agreement with the AHL’s Hamilton Hammers, the team announced.
The Hammers stated on X that “A Stanley Cup champion is coming to Hamilton! Robby, the Mississauga native, has 463 games and 11 seasons of NHL experience. Welcome to the Hammer!”
After scoring two goals and five points in 21 NHL games last season with the St. Louis Blues and Minnesota Wild, Fabbri secured this PTO with Hamilton.
Additionally, in three AHL games for the Charlotte Checkers in 2025–2026, Fabbri scored one goal and one assist.
A Retrospective on Fabbri’s Time with the Red Wings
For Jacob de la Rose, the Red Wings got Fabbri from the Blues in the 2019–20 season.
Then, Fabbri played five seasons for Detroit, from 2019–20 to 2023–24. He amassed 66 goals, 61 assists, and 127 points in 234 games with Detroit during that time.
Fabbri frequently encountered injury issues during his time with the Red Wings. In each of his seasons in Detroit, he participated in fewer than 70 games.
