Don’t Push It: Evander Kane Responds to Kurtis Gabriel in a Way No One Expected

Kurtis Gabriel’s statements were the reason Evander Kane spoke out on Monday night.

Kane at last addressed the clamor surrounding his name on Monday, having not yet committed anywhere this offseason.

World Hockey Report sent a tweet asking what Kane was alluding to, and that’s how it all started.

Monday at 7:14 p.m., Kane responded in a rather obvious way.

Kane said, “I can’t wait for the day when I decide to tell ‘my truths.’ The only distinction? My truths will be accompanied by information, records, and the actual truth.”

He didn’t end there.

Kane included a sentence specifically addressing anyone who has recently spoken out about him: “A lot of people have become far too comfortable speaking publicly while relying on my silence.”

Kane’s caution is made after a former colleague went public.

Kane’s time in San Jose was the topic of Gabriel’s remarks, and the announcement came out just hours after they started doing the rounds.

Kane never called Gabriel directly. He wasn’t required to.

Everyone who followed the story made the connections in a matter of minutes, as the timing speaks for itself.

The tone is noteworthy. Kane isn’t explicitly denying anything; instead, he’s vowing to provide a receipts-first refutation on his own time, whenever that day may come.

It’s like a player with a highlight tape who won’t share it, leaving everyone wondering what’s on it in the hockey world.

It’s a strange hill to stand on for a man still searching for his next contract to pick a public war over past locker room complaints.

This exchange is now filed alongside everything else in the file for teams who are already debating whether to contact Kane’s office.

There is nothing in Kane’s tweet that puts an end to the narrative. If nothing else, it simply informed everyone that he would release more whenever he chose to do so and on his own terms.
