🧸 Hershey Bears Make History by Overthrowing a Hockey Rink With 102,343 Stuffed Animals!
Envision stepping into a hockey arena anticipating a routine game, only to witness over 100,000 plush animals covering the entire ice surface. The Hershey Bears delivered one of the most heartwarming moments in hockey history at Giant Center in January 2025, and that is precisely what occurred.
After the Bears score their first goal, fans are allowed to throw stuffed animals onto the ice, which is a custom that is part of the team’s well-known Teddy Bear Toss. This night, on the other hand, was everything but typical.
Thousands of fans let out their carefully planned surprises the second the puck entered the net. Teddy bears, plush canines, bunnies, elephants, and many more toys were coming from all directions.
The playing area was completely covered in a matter of seconds.
Arena workers tirelessly gathered the enormous pile of toys while the players watched them grab bags and shovels. The cleanup took about 40 minutes, which shows how amazing the crowd’s assistance was.
The number that drew attention throughout the hockey world followed.
Stuffed animals! 102,343.
The amazing total made the 2025 Hershey Bears Teddy Bear Toss an incredible feat by setting a new world record and breaking the old one.
However, the actual triumph exceeded the record books by a wide margin.
An additional $102,343 was raised for children’s charities by a donor who had promised to give one dollar for each plush animal gathered. Additionally, the toys were set for delivery to hospitals, shelters, and community groups, providing solace and joy to children who were most in need.
Interestingly, the custom started in Kamloops, British Columbia, in 1993 before spreading to hockey communities around North America.
One of hockey’s most treasured customs began as a straightforward charitable notion.
Hershey not only set a record that evening. When everyone cooperates for a worthy cause, the fans showed how strong a sports community can be.
One target. One scene. 102,343 toy animals.
This is called hockey with heart! ❤️
Would you have taken part in the Teddy Bear Toss if you were at Giant Center that evening?
