Dylan Larkin remains a member of the Red Wings more than halfway through October, as the club embarks on its first prolonged road trip of the year. As they travel to the West Coast, the team has managed to put together a 3-3-2 record, and Larkin is currently not at the center of the top line.

There has only been talk of trading Larkin thus far. “I believe there will be a trade in Detroit within seven to ten days,” ESPN’s John Buccigross informed viewers on Frank Seravalli’s ‘Frankly Hockey’ podcast on October 16.
The insider simply stated that he was referring to Larkin rather than RFA defender Simon Edvinsson in the trade talks, without disclosing any more information about his source(s). For a long time, it has been said that Larkin’s asking price is exorbitant.
Larkin would be looking to pack more luggage if a trade were to happen while the Red Wings are on the road, which would make it simpler for the center to exit. They could be waiting for some players to rejoin the lineup first, given the questionable availability of Detroit’s front corps.
It seems that Marco Kasper will be out for a while, but J.T. Compher is close to rejoining the team, which should help. However, any deal would likely drop both down the roster given head coach Todd McLellan’s current configuration of the forward lines.
