In regulation last night, the Calgary Flames defeated the Detroit Red Wings for the first time since October. The squad has failed to earn a point in the standings on the night for the ninth time.
In their final Saddledome journey, the Red Wings offense was poor, as Detroit’s lone goal in their 4-1 loss came in the second period from Michigan Men JT Compher and Andrew Copp connecting off a face-off draw.
After their first 11 games, the Red Wings are currently 4-4-3 and tied for last place in the Atlantic standings with the Buffalo Sabres with 11 points.
The Red Wings will need to score more goals than they did from their front corps as they travel to Edmonton to complete their four-game road trip against Connor McDavid and the Oilers. While center Dylan Larkin is still trying to get on the scoreboard since his lone goal of the season so far from his debut against the Ottawa Senators, Viktor Arvidsson and Lucas Raymond were able to end their scoring droughts earlier on the road.
With 33 points so far, McDavid leads the NHL in points, and Draisatl is in second place with 19. Meanwhile, McDavid and Draisatl have scored 20 goals together this season. This year, under ex-Red Wings coach Mike Babcock, the tandem has been extremely skilled at playing hockey.
