Following just five shots on goal in the first 40 minutes of play, Red Wings netminder John Gibson left his team’s game against the Vancouver Canucks after the second period.
According to Ken Daniels’ report during the game, Gibson had an upper body injury. Gibson has a 2-3-1 record with a 3.58 GAA and an.873 save percentage in the first month of the Red Wings’ season, starting six games (excluding tonight).

The Red Wings had already called up Czech netminder and NHL rookie Michal Postava, who started the third period in Gibson’s place against the Canucks tonight, after backup Daniil Tarasov tweaked an injury at yesterday’s practice skate. They were already banged up at netminder. Postava made his NHL debut.
