Dan Watson, the head coach of Grand Rapids, revealed the news after the Grand Rapids Griffins defeated the Manitoba Moose 4-3 at Van Andel Arena on Wednesday night.
Postava’s recall reasons were not disclosed by Watson. He stated that Jamie Phillips, a former Michigan Tech and minor league goalie, was signed by the Griffins to a PTO to serve as their backup goalie against the Moose due to the call-up.
Prior to today’s game in Vancouver, Postava is reportedly joining the Red Wings.
After the 2025-26 season, Postava, 24, left the Czech league. He had a strong season in the AHL last year and began this season with a 4-0 record, a 1.25 goals-against average, and a .954 save percentage.
He guided his Brno Kometa club to a Czech League title before joining the Red Wings.
The Red Wings felt confident moving 2021 first-round selection Sebastian Cossa in part because of Postava’s progress.
