Dylan Larkin Delivers a Message to Red Wings Supporters After Being Booed Again

Dylan Larkin was booed during his debut shift on Tuesday before sending a message to the disgruntled Red Wings fans by scoring a first-period goal that gave Detroit a 2-1 lead over the Ottawa Senators at Little Caesars Arena.

The objective transformed Larkin’s comeback from an injury into a test of how much one player might improve his status in the organization given that his demand for a transfer is still unanswered.

The Detroit Free Press reports that prior to warmups, Larkin was removed off injured reserve and included into the LCA lineup.

According to The Hockey News, Ottawa came in with a record of 2-0-0, while Detroit arrived with a record of 0-2-0.

Red Wings Lead Ottawa Thanks to Larkin Goal

When Larkin stepped onto the ice and again when he first touched the puck, fans booed, and Ottawa’s Tim Stützle scored off the rush in less than three minutes.

According to MLive reporter Ansar Khan, Larkin slammed in a Viktor Arvidsson pass from the net front at 13:14 to tie the score at 1-1. The second helper was given to Alex DeBrincat, who had knotted the score for the Red Wings.

According to Khan, Larkin received jeers every time he touched the puck prior to scoring. When the objective was announced, the structure responded with a combination of cheers and boos.

Video uploaded online shows Larkin raising both arms in the crease before skating to the bench and sitting between DeBrincat and Lucas Raymond, talking and gazing up the ice. He avoided making any signals to the crowd.

Detroit is still haunted by Larkin’s trade request.

The first public welcome was given at Friday’s home opener versus the New York Rangers. According to The Athletic, Larkin, wearing street clothes with the other scrapes, was met with loud boos.

According to Fox 2 Detroit, after New York scored, supporters screamed “Sell the team” to owner Chris Ilitch. The Red Wings were defeated 2-0.

“Obviously, he has to deal with the results of requesting a trade. Nobody finds it pleasant. I feel awful for him,” said coach Todd McLellan, according to ESPN.

Elliotte Friedman revealed the trade request on June 4. The NHL.com story claims that Steve Yzerman announced on June 27 that agent Pat Brisson called soon after the season was over, and then a week later, he followed up with a shortlist of teams for which Larkin would relinquish his no-trade clause.

On September 11, the Red Wings removed Larkin’s captaincy.

Larkin was quoted by NHL.com as saying, “As a captain, I requested a trade from the Detroit Red Wings, and that has repercussions. I get why that choice was taken.”

According to The Hockey News, Larkin’s off-ice training resulted in an upper-body injury that prevented him from attending camp and preseason.

According to Bleacher Report, his eight-year deal has an $8.7 million cap hit through 2030-31 and includes a full no-trade provision through at least 2027-28.

According to the Detroit Free Press this week, the first concern is getting Larkin into the lineup, not relocating him.
