With a prediction suggesting late October as a potential window for a deal, trade rumors involving Dylan Larkin in the NHL have reached a potentially crucial point.
While Larkin has broadened his list of teams he’d consider playing for, Detroit has reportedly looked into the league’s young centers. While these events have made a tale that has been floating around for months more pressing, they are not evidence that a deal is imminent. Larkin has a full no-trade clause, thus he must approve of any location, and the Red Wings still need an offer that lives up to their standards.
NHL trade rumours centre on Dylan Larkin.
On October 16, John Buccigross said on Frankly Hockey that he anticipated a Detroit trade between seven and ten days. Buccigross confirmed Larkin was the player he had in mind when Frank Seravalli questioned whether he meant Larkin instead of defenseman Simon Edvinsson. According to that estimate, the window might fall between October 23 and 26.
NHL insider Elliotte Friedman said on October 22 that the Red Wings had inquired with other teams about young centers, including prospects who had not yet played in the NHL. Friedman was unable to say for sure if those conversations included Larkin, Edvinsson, or both. The talks indicate a wider roster plan rather than a definite trade strategy.
Larkin has also allegedly increased the number of possible destinations from three to 10. Minnesota, Colorado, Washington, Dallas, Utah, Florida, Vegas, New Jersey, Carolina, and Tampa Bay are among the clubs listed in the stories. Even though Larkin would still need to consent to the team, a lengthier list may give Detroit additional room to negotiate.
