Celtics Fans Are On Jayson Tatum Watch After NBA Announces Schedule Change

The Boston Celtics are currently enjoying some much-needed time off during the All-Star break. However, there’s a level of excitement surrounding the team, even with no games being played, thanks to some recent developments surrounding Jayson Tatum.

After suffering a torn Achilles tendon in the playoffs last year, Tatum has spent the past nine months working his way back to full health. The door has been left open for Tatum to return to action this year, and with his rehab seemingly being ahead of schedule, the belief has always been that he would return in March or April.

The latest confirmation that Tatum is close to returning to action came when he participated in a practice with the Maine Celtics earlier this week. And now, the NBA has made an intriguing schedule change involving Boston that has fans believing Tatum’s return is imminent.

“From the league: the Celtics’ home game versus Philadelphia on Sunday, March 1st has been moved from 6 pm to 8 and will now be televised by NBC,” Steve Bulpett of Heavy Sports shared in a post on X.

The NBA always makes these sorts of moves for specific reasons, so why would they bump this game to primetime? The league could simply like the matchup between the C’s and the Philadelphia 76ers, or they could know something about Tatum’s rehab status that we don’t.

Right now, this is purely speculative, but Celtics fans will have Mar. 1 circled on their calendars as a result of this move. And as always, Tatum’s continued work towards getting himself back on the court will be worth monitoring as this game, which has suddenly become quite important, draws near.
